Kapalbhati pranayama is a simple breathing exercise that has many health benefits. To break down the meaning, you would have to refer to Sanskrit. “Kapal” means forehead and “bhati” means light. Then begin to inhale slowly and exhale quicker with force, making sure that your abdomen contracts when exhaling and expands while inhaling. Some people do this breathing exercise twice a day. A beginner should practice for about three to five minutes a day. After a month or two the time can be extended to ten to fifteen minutes. It is best to do Kapalbhati pranayama outdoors in the fresh air so that you can inhale clean air into the body and exhale the bad air out.
