How to get rid of yellow teeth

The problem of yellow teeth affects many people and one of the common causes of yellow teeth is something that we are all culprits of; poor dental hygiene. Dental Fluorosis is a condition that is caused by excessive fluoride in the water that we drink. While fluoride is needed to protect teeth from decay, too much of it causes decay and yellowing of teeth. The yellowing of teeth should not be confused with the natural yellow tint of teeth, in some people. This is the case if you have a uniform tint of yellow on your teeth. If the tint is not uniform in color then you have yellowed teeth and it has to be treated.

Tips to get rid of Yellow teeth

Whitening mouthwash: One of the simplest treatments for yellow teeth is whitening mouthwash. Use the whitening mouthwash several times a day to get rid of the mild stains on teeth.

Whitening toothpastes: The treatment for mild yellow teeth can be done using whitening toothpastes. There are plenty of toothpaste brands that can be used to whiten the teeth. The frequency of use depends on the degree of yellow tint.

Orange Peel: Rubbing peel of orange (its inner part-the white one) daily on the teeth is a good remedy to whiten yellow teeth.

Baking soda: Brushing your teeth with baking soda will turn your teeth white in 2 to 4 weeks time. You can brush twice a day using baking soda. You can also clean your tongue regularly using braking soda as it helps to prevent bad breath.

Brush after every meal: Every time after having a meal brush your teeth for a couple of minutes. Just use little toothpaste, it’s sufficient. Not only after meals, you can brush whenever you drink or eat a substantial quantity. In general you need to brush your teeth three times a day especially if you take foods that have color, like coffee and soda.

Whitening strips: An alternate way of treating stained teeth is using whitening strips. The whitening agent in the strips is the same one used in whitening mouthwash and toothpastes. The whitening strips are placed on teeth and after few minutes its removed. It takes a while to whiten the teeth; so don’t be wary when they do not whiten immediately. The use of these strips need to be regulated because long term use can lead to pain and the hypersensitivity of teeth. Be careful not to over-bleach the teeth and make them weaker and brittle. Teeth may crack and fall off as a result of weakening through over bleaching.

Strawberry pulp: Strawberry is known to have natural bleaching effect thus using it on your teeth will help you get rid of yellow teeth but it’s a gradual process.

Bleaching trays: Yellowed teeth can be bleached using bleaching trays. These trays are specially made for each person. The mould is placed over the teeth after the whitening solution has been filled on the mould. This is the most effective way of bleaching teeth since it allows the whitening fluid to get to parts of the teeth that toothpastes will not get into. Like all other means of bleaching teeth, you run the risk of over bleaching the teeth in case of over-use.
