The Health Benefits of Arnica
Arnica is a mountain herb with daisy looking flowers. The flowers have highly toxic compounds and they should not be used for internal purpose as they will boost the blood pressure to high levels which in turn leads to heart damage. But on the other hand arnica is very effective when used for external treatment and this is quite surprising.
Arnica removes bruises completely by reabsorbing the blood that has entered into the body tissue. You can get ointment with arnica content about 25% and apply it over the inflammation areas seven or eight times a day. This will reduce pain, swelling and removes dark patches.
Pain killing and anti inflammation actions is performed by the chemicals helenalin and dihydro helenalin present in arnica. To use it in tincture form just mix 1 part tincture with 5-10 pats of water. Then dip a clean cloth in the liquid and apply over the inflammation areas. Arnica is also available in tablet form but follow the instructions exactly.
Relieves Sprains and Strains
Arnica is effective in treating minor sprains. It improve the blood flow and nutritious compounds present in it remove the lactic acid that causes pain after injury. Athlete’s use Arnica extract before the start of race to reduce ant pain that may be caused by sprains, swelling or painful joints.
Treating sore foot
If you have ache or pain in your feet soak your leg in a tub of warm water to which a teaspoon of arnica tincture is added.
